Resolutions 2024

Yeah I guess I’m doing this again. It’s something that fills a post slot, even if I don’t actually follow through.

1. Edit the book I wrote at the end of last year. I already know it needs a ton of work.

2. Edit the web serial to version 2 and post that.

3. Work on being more out there and pushing my stuff, even if it’s really, really hard.

4. Write a new book, perhaps the sequel to last year’s book.

5. Find something new to post online. I have several old stories that might work.

6. Try not to melt into a puddle of anxiety as the election looms. No big deal, it’s just between people with no spine and those who want to see me dead. I hate this! I never envisioned my life this way, make it stop!

7. Try to keep better track of my goals for this year (yeah, right).

Ha ha, 2024 is going to be a nightmare!!! What do you want for this year?

Resolutions 2023

Is this accurate? 2023? It still feels like 2020, the year that never ended. I’m not even sure what I should plan for this year considering how insane life has been. Pandemics and white supremacist insurrections and a spoiled manbaby wrecking a social network because people are mean to him on there (seriously, did you hear about the person who couldn’t delete their twitter so they turned it into a M*sk parody account and it got insta-banned???). It’s all kind of surreal. Whoever is writing this thing needs to get off the drugs. Because they are on, like, all of them.

I guess I should make some resolutions or whatever.

1. Keep looking for ways to promote my web serial (I am so, so bad at this).

2. Write the second part of that web serial.

3. Finish the new web serial project I’ve been working on (less seriously, I don’t have much of a plan for this one).

4. Write something else. Not sure what. I’m just assuming this will happen at some point.

5. Find a new social media to be active on since twitter is being slowly murdered. So far, Mastodon seems too complicated and Hive too shaky. There’s Tumblr, of course, but it’s, well, Tumblr. If you want to communicate entirely in Supernatural memes, it’s the place for you.

6. Work on losing some weight. Probably not going to happen, but I can try.

7. Start reading some new books. For the past few years, the only new things I’ve read have been graphic novels/comics, so I’d like to get back to reading some word novels again.

I also need to keep better track of my resolutions this year. I totally forgot to do a mid-year check in during 2022. Whoops!

What are you hoping for this year?

Reflections, 2022

This is it, the last Tuesday of 2022. Somehow. I’m not sure when this happened, but the year is almost over. And I’m sure I’ve done absolutely nothing that I intended to do.

Resolutions
1. Write another book. Like I haven’t been doing that enough. Oh well, at least it’s an easy resolution to keep.
Well, this is a success. It would have been a tougher resolution if I told myself to STOP writing.

2. Finish editing the book I wrote over a year ago. You know, and stop getting distracted by Shiny New Ideas.
Eh, I guess it’s finished. It’s not like there was ever any interest in it anyway.

3. Edit the book I just finished writing. Because I make poor decisions.
Hey, I did this. Good on me for keeping it easy.

4. Keep looking for ways to advance my writing. I know this one is kind of vague, but it’s basically me wanting to get better at it.
I guess I did this too? I’ve been working on different things, just not successfully.

5. Lose some weight. Of all the resolutions I’ve ever had, this is the hardest. It’s not fair. I like food…
I always seem to yo-yo within the same range…

6. Continue to avoid getting sick. I made it almost two years without getting COVID, and I intend to keep it that way.
Wow, I actually failed this one! Though I didn’t get COVID at least, just a rhinovirus. That didn’t actually congest my nose. But gave me one hell of a sore throat. Look, it was a weird couple of weeks.

7. Maybe actually be on social media more. I know, this didn’t work out so well last year.
Weirdly, I did this. Again, not really successfully. I wish there was an instruction manual with very specific instructions for how to do social media. Though now things are blowing up anyway because of the manbaby who took over Twitter and is running it into the ground because people are mean to him on there.

A weirdly successful year. For me anyway. I’d feel better about it if the world still wasn’t so apocalyptic. It just kind of sucks that the pandemic that has killed millions and harmed millions more is less of a threat than rich people who want the government to give all the money to their billion dollar corporations instead of the people working forty hours a week who don’t get paid enough money to buy food.

You know. Things.

Reflections 2021

Oh man. This was definitely… a year. Frankly, it’s like looking into a mirror and seeing a monster standing behind you. And that monster is 2021. If I was better at drawing, this would be a comic.

Anyway, what was I supposed to do this year? Because I sure as hell don’t remember.

Resolutions
1. Finish the book I’m working on and get it edited.
Hey, I did this. It still needs work, but I am making progress. Not sure what will become of this one, but I’m not ready to give up on it.

2. Work on the other WIP idea I have and maybe even write it.
Totally did this. It’s actually pretty good, in my opinion, but of course there’s no way it’s nearly as good as I think it is.

3. Actually query last year’s WIP. Yes, I am terrified.
Ended up deciding not to do this. It just didn’t seem like an interesting enough story.

4. Possibly work on the sequel WIP I said I’d do last year.
Also decided not to do this, figuring that writing a sequel when the WIP itself wasn’t ready probably wasn’t the best idea. I decided to write something completely different instead, because of course I did.

5. Not die from the illness that’s killing hundreds of thousands of people in my country because people are dumbasses who refuse to wear masks or accept that it’s a dangerous disease.
Hey, I didn’t die! Or even get sick! Avoiding people at all costs is finally paying off.

6. Try to engage more with social media. I know, that seems crazy. Who would want to? I certainly have no idea how to do it.
Ha ha no. Not even a little. Social media is way too depressing, you know, with all the awful.

7. Not let 2021 be anything like 2020. Shudder.
Definitely failed on this one. But can you blame me?

Meh. 2021 was certainly an ordeal. Not really looking forward to 2020, 2 next year. Some things just don’t need sequels.

How was your 2021? What did you get done?

Mid Year Check In

In a move I’m pretty sure I cribbed from MJ, I’m going to look at the goals I made for the year and see how I’m doing on them. Considering I don’t even remember them, probably not good.

Resolutions 2021
1. Finish the book I’m working on and get it edited.
Hey, this is underway! Look at me actually doing something.

2. Work on the other WIP idea I have and maybe even write it.
I may have actually already done this.

3. Actually query last year’s WIP. Yes, I am terrified.
Probably not going to do this. Unfortunately, I’m more than ever convinced it’s just not good enough to stand out.

4. Possibly work on the sequel WIP I said I’d do last year.
This one’s also likely not going to happen, for basically the same reason as above. Unfortunately, I’m just not able to figure out how to improve it. Sigh…

5. Not die from the illness that’s killing hundreds of thousands of people in my country because people are dumbasses who refuse to wear masks or accept that it’s a dangerous disease.
Well, I’m not dead yet. I even got my first vaccine shot, so I’m doing pretty well on this one. Really hoping none of those variants pop up around here.

6. Try to engage more with social media. I know, that seems crazy. Who would want to? I certainly have no idea how to do it.
Wait, I made this a goal? What the hell was I thinking! Social media is terrible!

7. Not let 2021 be anything like 2020. Shudder.
Not doing too badly so far.

I can’t believe I’m actually making progress. How suspicious. Somebody must be up to no good. What were you hoping to accomplish this year? How is 2021 working out for you?

Tuesday, January 5, 2021

Resolutions 2021

Oh, man. I got to do this again. Let’s see what yearly goals I make for myself that I promptly forget about!

1. Finish the book I’m working on and get it edited.

2. Work on the other WIP idea I have and maybe even write it.

3. Actually query last year’s WIP. Yes, I am terrified.

4. Possibly work on the sequel WIP I said I’d do last year.

5. Not die from the illness that’s killing hundreds of thousands of people in my country because people are dumbasses who refuse to wear masks or accept that it’s a dangerous disease.

6. Try to engage more with social media. I know, that seems crazy. Who would want to? I certainly have no idea how to do it.

7. Not let 2021 be anything like 2020. Shudder.

What do you want to do in 2021?

Mid-Year Check In

Boy, am I not looking forward to this. What even are my 2020 resolutions?

1. Get WIP-1 ready to be published.
It’s getting there. I think. Who knows if it’ll ever get published, though.

2. Finish editing WIP-2 to get it ready for beta reading.
I haven’t done nearly enough on this, but in my defense, 2020.

3. Finish editing the other WIP that kind of got pushed aside after I decided to write WIP-2.
Same answer as above.

4. Write the two short side stories I have planned, and edit everything.
Started on this, but got distracted. Because. You know. Everything.

5. Maybe write the sequel to the other WIP. I don’t know, I’ll have to see if I have the time.
Didn’t work on the sequel, worked on another new book entirely, because of course I did.

6. Work on my health and hopefully get better.
Wow, this was a goal? Wow. Frankly, the fact that I haven’t gotten sick with the deadly disease infecting the entire planet is probably a win. Hope I can keep that going.

7. Not back down when I know what’s right. Ever.
Did not think this one would be tested as much as it was.

So. Yeah. 2020, man. What a frigging year. I want to go crawl under the covers and hide for the rest of the year. No, that won’t do any good. For the rest of my life. Yes, that should finally make things better.

How has this year gone for you? Punch to the gut? Kick to the shins? Something in between?

Tuesday, January 7, 2020

Resolutions 2020

Sigh. Yeah, time to do it again. Something about this year is leaving me a lot less motivated than usual.

1. Get WIP-1 ready to be published.

2. Finish editing WIP-2 to get it ready for beta reading.

3. Finish editing the other WIP that kind of got pushed aside after I decided to write WIP-2.

4. Write the two short side stories I have planned, and edit everything.

5. Maybe write the sequel to the other WIP. I don’t know, I’ll have to see if I have the time.

6. Work on my health and hopefully get better.

7. Not back down when I know what’s right. Ever.

So it’s 2020. A big year. What are you hoping for it?

Reflections 2019

What a terrible year. I’d say I’m happy to see it go, but then I start panicking about all the things that I have to do once it’s 2020. Anyone else remember a time where they were able stop screaming in horror for more than five seconds? Because I don’t.

Well, that got darker than I expected. What was I supposed to do this year?

Resolutions 2019
1. Figure out some way to keep my yearly resolutions in mind. Maybe I’ll put them at the top of the file I organize my blog posts in.
I think doing this the day before the year ends does still technically count.

2. Finish the first draft of my new WIP and make my editing plan.
Hey, I did this. Didn’t get as much editing done as I wanted, but I was busy with other projects.

3. (Hopefully) finish my older WIP, and at the very least keep making progress on it.
It’s actually as close as I can get it. It could probably use some more beta reads to be sure, though.

4. Write something new, but not necessarily an entire book. Something smaller.
I did this. And also wrote an entire new book. I’m not sure that’s a fail, though.

5. Start up a new spam blog. I know. It’s the stupidest thing ever. I just think it’s hilarious.
Kind of did this since I’m now posting it on here. Plus that’s so many more blog posts I don’t have to write. Win-win.

6. Arm myself for the upcoming revolution.
It’s taking too long to get here.

7. Be nicer. To the people who are nice. The people who are mean will learn new definitions of pain.
This would probably be the only one I could consider a fail. It’s been a tough year for niceness.

I actually did most of what I wanted to. I’m pleased with that. I just wish things were a little easier. It’d be nice not to have to worry about losing my health insurance or screwing up my taxes.

What did you think of 2019? Did you get anything important done? Are you glad to see it go? And be sure to have a fun night!!!

Mid-Year Check In

I don’t even remember what my resolutions were for this year. Probably not a good sign.

Resolutions 2019
1. Figure out some way to keep my yearly resolutions in mind. Maybe I’ll put them at the top of the file I organize my blog posts in.
That’s a really good idea. Why didn’t I do that?

2. Finish the first draft of my new WIP and make my editing plan.
Hey, I did this! Good going.

3. (Hopefully) finish my older WIP, and at the very least keep making progress on it.
Progress, it is happening.

4. Write something new, but not necessarily an entire book. Something smaller.
Still planning on doing this.

5. Start up a new spam blog. I know. It’s the stupidest thing ever. I just think it’s hilarious.
I put it up here now. Don’t you guys miss it? Don’t worry. It’ll be back next week.

6. Arm myself for the upcoming revolution.
Really, all I need is my fists.

7. Be nicer. To the people who are nice. The people who are mean will learn new definitions of pain.
Well, this one’s been a total fail. These days, niceness doesn’t seem to work.

Honestly, I’m not doing bad this year. It just feels like it because the world is a total nightmare.

How are you doing this year? Do you remember what your resolutions were?

Resolutions 2019

The holidays have past. It’s a brand new year. And frankly, I’m exhausted. So while this post will be new, I think I’ll do some reposts for the rest of the week so I can take it easy. Until I start cringing over how badly written the old posts were.

Anyway, it’s time to figure out just what I want to do this year.

1. Figure out some way to keep my yearly resolutions in mind. Maybe I’ll put them at the top of the file I organize my blog posts in.

2. Finish the first draft of my new WIP and make my editing plan.

3. (Hopefully) finish my older WIP, and at the very least keep making progress on it.

4. Write something new, but not necessarily an entire book. Something smaller.

5. Start up a new spam blog. I know. It’s the stupidest thing ever. I just think it’s hilarious.

6. Arm myself for the upcoming revolution.

7. Be nicer. To the people who are nice. The people who are mean will learn new definitions of pain.

That’s my 2019 plan. Now let’s see how it all goes to hell. Ugh, I made myself feel bad.

What do you hope for this year?

Reflections 2018

It’s Christmas, but it’s also the last Tuesday of the year and obviously it’s more important for me to stick to my schedule than put up a filler post. I mean, have you met me? Sticking to schedules is what I do.

If this year was any rougher I’d be in court pointing to where it hurt me on a doll. Saying it was better than last year is like saying being stabbed is better than being shot. I’d rather not have either!

Anyway, this is what I had planned for the year:

Resolutions 2018
1. Figure out some way to better keep track of my goals and resolutions. I used to use a sticky note on my desktop, but I hate it looking cluttered…
I went back to the sticky note. I guess it’s not the worst. It does help me remember what I should be doing.

2. Write a new book.
I’m more than halfway done with the first draft, so it’s getting there!

3. Actually finish a book this year!
I didn’t, although not for lack of trying. I worked really hard to get it to the point where it could have beta readers, and there are still a million things I have to do with it!

4. Once again, try to eat better. Cut back on sugar, and whatnot.
Yeah. No.

5. Takeover/destroy the world. Which it’ll be will probably depend on my mood.
It’s probably a good thing for people that I’m too lazy to get off my ass and do this, because it definitely would have been destroy.

6. Find something fun to do in my spare time. I need more fun. We all need more fun.
Meh, kind of. I bought new games to play. That counts.

7. Write something every day. Well, at least this will be easy.
Pretty close to it, yeah.

I guess it was a successful year in terms of writing, but that’s where it ends. What a nightmare 2018 has been. Wake me when the revolution begins because I’m going to go sleep forever.

Have a nice holiday! Or Tuesday, if that’s what you’re celebrating.

Mid-Year Check In

Well, this year’s about half over, and I know I’m saying “Thank god, just please make the nightmare end sooner.”

Anyway! It’s about time I look at the resolutions I set up for this year because I can’t remember what any of them actually are.

Resolutions 2018
1. Figure out some way to better keep track of my goals and resolutions. I used to use a sticky note on my desktop, but I hate it looking cluttered…
I put the sticky note back on my desk top. At least I’m remembering some goals.

2. Write a new book.
Did this.

3. Actually finish a book this year!
Looking pretty good that this is going to happen.

4. Once again, try to eat better. Cut back on sugar, and whatnot.
I made this a goal? Hm. Whoops.

5. Takeover/destroy the world. Which it’ll be will probably depend on my mood.
At this rate, I’m leaning towards destroy.

6. Find something fun to do in my spare time. I need more fun. We all need more fun.
Always make sure to have fun.

7. Write something every day. Well, at least this will be easy.
Pretty much every day, except for the weekends. Not bad, if I do say so myself.

I’m really on track this year. Which proves one thing: as the world dissolves into an unceasing nightmare, I will do anything to escape it, even actual work.

Tuesday, January 2, 2018

Resolutions 2018

It’s that time of year again. Might as well make a bunch of resolutions. It’s not like I have any better ideas planned for today.

1. Figure out some way to better keep track of my goals and resolutions. I used to use a sticky note on my desktop, but I hate it looking cluttered…

2. Write a new book.

3. Actually finish a book this year!

4. Once again, try to eat better. Cut back on sugar, and whatnot.

5. Takeover/destroy the world. Which it’ll be will probably depend on my mood.

6. Find something fun to do in my spare time. I need more fun. We all need more fun.

7. Write something every day. Well, at least this will be easy.

This is my plan for this year. I like plans. It makes me think I know what’s coming. Of course, it’s that much more crushing when everything gets destroyed.

Aw, I bummed myself out.

What do you want for this year? Any plans of your own?

Tuesday, December 26, 2017

Reflections 2017

I think this year can be best summed up by one word: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH. On one hand none of my relatives died. On the other, republicans are damn sure trying to turn the world into an unending nightmare. So. You know. Things are still pretty bad.

Anyway, let’s see what I was supposed to do this year.

Resolutions 2017
1. Finish the first draft of my new WIP and hopefully start editing it.
Sigh, I really wish I did this. Maybe if I wasn’t so tired. And, you know, constantly terrified about losing my health care.

2. Come up with an idea for a new story that I probably won’t have time to write but still want anyway.
I actually have been toying with a new idea lately. I really like it, and also hope that I continue to really like it.

4. Build a rocket ship and move to Mars because I don’t want to live on this planet anymore.
Of all the things I didn’t do, this is the one I regret the most. I wish I was anywhere but here.

5. Find a new project to work on in my spare time. You know, something easy that I can work on when I’m too tired to write.
I never really found anything new that I wanted to work on. Not that I haven’t been too tired to write…

6. Try to eat better.
Probably not as much as I should.

7. Keep on blogging!
Why am I so excited for this. Stop being so enthusiastic. There is nothing warranting it. Stop it.

Yeah, this was a pretty depressing post. Sorry. I hope you have a happy new year and it’s nothing like 2017.

Tuesday, July 18, 2017

Checking In

Remember how I do resolutions at the beginning of every year? Because I sure didn’t. I meant to check in on them last week but totally forgot about it. So I might as well do it now!

Resolutions 2017
1. Finish the first draft of my new WIP and hopefully start editing it.

2. Come up with an idea for a new story that I probably won’t have time to write but still want anyway.

4. Build a rocket ship and move to Mars because I don’t want to live on this planet anymore.

5. Find a new project to work on in my spare time. You know, something easy that I can work on when I’m too tired to write.

6. Try to eat better.

7. Keep on blogging!

I seem to be on track. Holy crap, I’m even eating better. I can’t believe my goals are actually almost being met. This is insanity. If things keep going this good for me, maybe people won’t be racist, sexist jerkholes anymore! (That would be the replacement for number 3, BTW)

I like how things are going. Well, kind of. Goal-wise. What about you? Now that we’re more than halfway through, how’s 2017 treating you?

Tuesday, January 3, 2017

Resolutions 2017

Well, it’s 2017. It has a pretty low bar set for it. Not turning into the world from The Hunger Games is pretty much all that needs to happen. Those of you with kids might want to start training them just in case.

Anyway, this is what I hope to do this year:

Resolutions 2017
1. Finish the first draft of my new WIP and hopefully start editing it.

2. Come up with an idea for a new story that I probably won’t have time to write but still want anyway.

3. Do the A-To-Z Challenge for the fourth time! Probably should get started on those posts. CANCELLED. I did not realize that one of the creators was a member of the rabid racist camp.

4. Build a rocket ship and move to Mars because I don’t want to live on this planet anymore.

5. Find a new project to work on in my spare time. You know, something easy that I can work on when I’m too tired to write.

6. Maybe don’t forget any of my resolutions this year :P.

7. Keep on blogging!

I don’t know what to expect from this year. There are plenty of things I’d like to do, but who knows if I’ll be able to. What do you want from 2017? I mean besides it not being as bad as 2016. That’s a given.

Tuesday, December 27, 2016

Reflections 2016

You know what? I don’t want to reflect on 2016. It was terrible. Like, beyond awful. Like, someone waking you up in the middle of the night by smacking you in the head with a hammer. No, wait. That’s not painful enough.

Ugh, this year can go and die.

Resolutions
1. Hopefully carve out time to write a new book!
Well, I started one. It’s only a fourth of the way done, but it’s better than nothing.

2. Keep updating the blog three times a week. I know this seems like an easy one since I’ve been doing that for years, but sometimes it seems like I’m out of time. So no matter what, keep blogging!
I did miss a week once. Because 2016 is just like being thrown off a cliff into a lake of boiling water.

3. Try to finish the horror story I started writing last year. Hopefully I can find the time!
I didn’t do this, because I couldn’t find the motivation to do it. If I don’t have fun writing it, I can’t imagine someone having fun reading it, so it’s probably for the best.

4. Maybe start a progress bar for my goals so I can see how far I’m getting.
Wow, I just straight up didn’t do this. I didn’t even remember it was a goal. Whoops?

5. Do the A-to-Z Challenge again! Which means I better get started on those posts.
Another success. It was definitely one of the more fun parts of the year.

6. Win a hundred million dollars in the lottery so I can just write for the rest of my life. This one might be tough.
I’m really mad that I didn’t make this goal. It’s totally unfair.

7. Read more. Just ‘cause why not?
Yes, I did. It was fun. I do wish that it was even more!

So that was 2016. It was way worse than the pretty font color I picked would indicate. It was like having your skin removed and replaced with a concentrated acid.

Ugh.

Mid-Year Check In

Oh boy, am I not looking forward to this. See, back in January I made resolutions for the year. And now that year is more than half done. Seriously? How did that happen? It should be March, April tops. Not frigging July.

Resolutions 2016
1. Hopefully carve out time to write a new book!
Well, no, but that’s not as much my fault as it is there not being enough time. I really need to move into a black hole so time will pass slower.

2. Keep updating the blog three times a week. I know this seems like an easy one since I’ve been doing that for years, but sometimes it seems like I’m out of time. So no matter what, keep blogging!
I kind of failed this since I did take that brief hiatus, but I had a damn good reason, so I guess it’s all right.

3. Try to finish the horror story I started writing last year. Hopefully I can find the time!
I’ve been trying, but I don’t have the passion for it that I once did. Maybe that will change in the next six months…

4. Maybe start a progress bar for my goals so I can see how far I’m getting.
Okay, I’m going to be honest here: I have no idea how to do this. I’m not that savvy when it comes to programing and have literally no clue how to get something like this.

5. Do the A-to-Z Challenge again! Which means I better get started on those posts.
Hey, one I did!

6. Win a hundred million dollars in the lottery so I can just write for the rest of my life. This one might be tough.
And one I didn’t. Unfortunately.

7. Read more. Just ‘cause why not?
Yes! Although I could read even more!

Okay, so I haven’t been doing that terrible (let’s hear it for realistic goals!), but I could be doing better, too. But sadly, writing is lower on my priorities list than I’d like right now. Sigh…

I could really use that lottery money about now.

So how are you doing now that 2016 is more than half over? Anything you want to do but haven’t been able to? Or need to do but don’t want to?

Tuesday, January 5, 2016

Resolutions 2016

How is it 2016 already? Didn’t 2015 begin just a few months ago? It feels like it should be May. Dear god. Is this what it’s like to get old? Because I’m not ready!!!

Resolutions
1. Hopefully carve out time to write a new book!

2. Keep updating the blog three times a week. I know this seems like an easy one since I’ve been doing that for years, but sometimes it seems like I’m out of time. So no matter what, keep blogging!

3. Try to finish the horror story I started writing last year. Hopefully I can find the time!

4. Maybe start a progress bar for my goals so I can see how far I’m getting.
