November Goals

Well, today’s it. If not now, then sometime in the next few days we’ll learn which party will win, the wishy-washy morons who can’t get anything done, or the ones who actually want me dead. Yes, I’m hoping for the morons who are actually held accountable for their misdeeds and aren’t actively hurting people.

Whatever. Goals.

October Goals
1. I’d like to get another 30K down in my new project.
Yes, I did this. I’d be more excited if I wasn’t terrified of death.

2. Hopefully find some time to edit an old project.
Did not have time for this. Too busy. Worrying takes up a lot of time.

3. Actually get back to editing my last WIP.  Not sure I’ll have time though.
Wanted to, but I wanted to distract myself from the horror more. You know how it is.

Not particularly successful. It’s been a tough month.

November Goals
1. Get to editing my old WIP. Seriously this time.

2. Find some time to write something. I guess.

3. Thanksgiving. Maybe it’ll be fun this year. But probably not.

Kind of sucks that conservatives are so awful to others. I wish people were nicer, but fat chance of them actually caring about those who don’t fit their mold.

October Goals

Okay, somehow it’s October, don’t know how that happened. Ha ha, a month left until the election, I’m fine, I’m totally fine, we’re not all going to die if it goes the wrong way or anything.

I can’t remember what I was supposed to be doing last month.

September Goals
1. Find something new to write that actually interests me.
At long last, I found something that I really want to write! Yay!

2. Edit something old to post on my other site. Luckily I have tons of options.
Getting around to it. I’m pretty sure I know what I’m going to go for.

3. Try to read some more. Maybe this will help me recharge.
Definitely didn’t do this as much as I’d like. I wish I had a few more hours in the day.

And now for October…

October Goals
1. I’d like to get another 30K down in my new project. Of course now my laptop has decided to randomly not type the R Y U I O and P letters. You wouldn’t believe how long it took me to get that sentence out. Ha ha this is giving me an aneurysm.

2. Hopefully find some time to edit an old project.

3. Actually get back to editing my last WIP.  Not sure I’ll have time though.

That’s the plan. What do you want to do? Are you glad the weather is changing?

September Goals

Well, I’m back on the internet, and I think we can all agree that’s a mistake. Though really, it’s the internet that’s the mistake. Just… all of it. Anyway, goals or whatever.

August Goals
1. Actually attempt to find more writer spaces and beta readers this month.
Like I had the energy to do this. I barely have the energy to talk to all the people I already know.

2. Find something that seems fun to work on.
Eh, kind of. I’m still feeling burnt out on everything, though, and it’s a process to getting back to normal.

3. Birthday. I’m looking forward to it with some trepidation. Did you know the bakery that makes my favorite cake had a fire and is now closed? And there’s no news as to when they’ll open again?
Miraculously, something went right this month and the bakery opened just two weeks before my birthday.

And now for September…

September Goals
1. Find something new to write that actually interests me.

2. Edit something old to post on my other site. Luckily I have tons of options.

3. Try to read some more. Maybe this will help me recharge.

This is what I hope to do this month. What do you want to do?

August Goals

Well, July was absolutely awful. It started with a bank error, proceeded to a presidential upset that I fear skews the election towards the party that wants to kill me, and now my doctor is leaving the practice I go to and now I have to get a new one and keep my fingers crossed that they’ll do their job property. Ha ha, everything is terrible. Needless to say, I haven’t been focusing much on my goals.

July Goals
1. Work on notes from beta readers. It looks promising so far.
Hey, at least I got this done before the world went to hell.

2. Find more beta readers and writer places. Please, just don’t make me have to go on Discord. Unfortunately it seems every other social media is dead now.
Did not even attempt this. Did not have the energy.

3. Sigh. Once again, update my etymology pages. I keep hoping they’ll update Blogger so it doesn’t suck any more, but fat chance of that happening when it took them a month to fix the problem with links.
Somehow the least odious portion of the month, and that’s saying something.

I never want July to come back. I can only hope August is better…

Ugh, I just want this year to be done.

July Goals

Well, we’re officially halfway through the year. Anyone else distressed at how this could have happened? No? Just me then?

June Goals
1. Start posting the web serial again, and keep working on it.
This at least was easy.

2. Do something fun and distracting to recharge.
Meh, kind of. Could probably use more recharging. My battery is very bad at holding a charge.

3. Work on getting beta readers for my WIP. Opening up to people with my work is hard, and I need people I can trust. So yeah. This is quite a task.
I did manage to do this, though I’m still hoping to find more. The finding is the really tough part.

Remember when there were a ton of write-bloggers? There were awards and contests and online get-togethers. Hell, you could go on social media and meet other writers there. It was awesome. I miss those days.

That’s what I want for this month, though who knows what will happen? What do you want to do this month? Where do you meet other writers?

June Goals

Somehow, it’s June already. Summer is weeks away, as is the midway point of the year. I’m sure I’ve accomplished absolutely nothing.

May Goals
1. Start writing something new.
Kind of. I’ve been fooling around with side stories to old projects. I still haven’t figured out what I want to work on next.

2. Edit the web serial and improve it.
Did this. Well, I edited. I’m not exactly sure I improved it.

3. Figure out what I want to do next for my last WIP. It’s not quite ready to be looked at by others, so I want to get it there.
I didn’t do this, as I haven’t been quite ready to look at it. I may need input from others.

As I thought, pretty much nothing. Some months you just have to get through.

What do you want to do this month? Where do you look for beta readers?

May Goals

Wow, somehow May happened when I wasn’t paying attention. Not thrilled with this. What was I even supposed to do this past month?

April Goals
1. Actually take some time to rest and creatively recharge.
Well, this was easy. I got a lot of reading done, so I’m pleased with that.

2. Update the etymology page. Ugh.
It’s still a huge pain in the ass and I still can’t get rid of the spaces between the words, but at least it’s done.

3. Figure out what I want to work on next. Something old? Something new?
I think I know what I want to work on next. Hopefully I’ll have the motivation to get underway.

Not bad, though it’s not like it’s a great burden to read and think about writing. Now for this month…

May Goals
1. Start writing something new.

2. Edit the web serial and improve it.

3. Figure out what I want to do next for my last WIP. It’s not quite ready to be looked at by others, so I want to get it there.

That’s what I want for this month. What do you want to do this May?

April Goals

Okay, now it’s April??? The year is a quarter done?????? That’s just wrong.

March Goals
1. Finish my editing for the new book. I think I’m down to eight hundred notes left. Eep.
I should be done by the time this posts. Fingers crossed.

2. Get the last chapters of the web serial ready to post.
Also very close to being done. Just the epilogue left now.

3. Work on something fun that isn’t editing. I definitely need it.
Wouldn’t you know, this is the one I didn’t have time to do.

Would have been nice to have some free time, but those notes were eternal. I added something like six thousand words of description, so yay?

April Goals

2. Update the etymology page. Ugh.

March Goals

Okay, somehow it’s March? Already? How did this happen??? That’s just wrong…

February Goals
1. Finish my notes for the latest WIP. Most of them so far are “word it better” and “actually describe this”.
Hey, I finished. Twelve hundred notes. I need a drink.

2. Start working on my editing notes. We’re at twelve hundred. Hence why I said start.
I was able to start, though my progress was hindered by getting rather sick earlier in the month. Babies are cute, but such germ-spreaders.

3. Keep editing my web serial. Only about nine chapters left in part two…
At least this was easy enough. Five chapters before the end!

And that was last month. Now for this month…

March Goals
1. Finish my editing for the new book. I think I’m down to eight hundred notes left. Eep.

2. Get the last chapters of the web serial ready to post.

It’s March, and spring will be here in a few weeks. What do you want to accomplish?

February Goals

Great, an entire month is over already. I’m really getting sick of this happening. What did I plan to do last month?

January Goals
1. Work on some old projects to recharge enough to edit.
I must have recharged because I actually got to editing. It’s a miracle!

2. Update my etymology page again. Remember when this didn’t used to be torture?
I did this, and as always, it made me miss old Blogger so much. It used to be so easy…

3. UGH! Jury Duty! Hopefully I won’t get picked, because that would suck. And have I mentioned the bridge that I have to take to the courthouse is partially closed?
Yay! It’s done! They haven’t paid me my twenty five bucks yet. Twenty five dollars… Yeah, that makes giving up an entire day of my time worth it.

What a month. I’m so tired. And now we have February…

February Goals
1. Finish my notes for the latest WIP. Most of said notes so far are “word it better” and “actually describe this”.

2. Start working on my editing notes. We’re at almost eight hundred one thousand twelve hundred for the final count. Hence why I said start.

3. Keep editing my web serial. Only about nine chapters left in part two…

Ugh, goals. UGH, February. What do you want to accomplish this month?

November Goals

Well, it’s November somehow. I’m not pleased with this. Only two months left of the year! What the hell?

What did I plan to do last month?

October Goals
1. Keep editing the WIP and posting the chapters.
Well, this one was easy enough, and thankfully I did it.

2. Ugh, time to update the etymology page again.
UGH. This is such a chore, but I did it.

3. Get to work on the new WIP idea I have. Definitely excited about this.
I already made it to 32K, so about a third of the way through. Yay!

Successful, I guess. I still can’t believe it’s November, though. What should I do this month?

November Goals
1. Get to 60K on my WIP.

2. Continue editing and posting my other WIP.

3. Thanksgiving (dread)

The holiday season is upon us. Unfortunately. What do you want to do this month?

July Goals

We are on the downswing of the year now. I don’t know how it happened. I feel like it should still be March. Now let’s see what I didn’t accomplish last month.

June Goals
1. Get to 60K on the sequel WIP.
Only got to 55K. It was such an easy goal, too, but it’s been a pretty stressful month. There were days I opened my document and just stared at the screen. I called those weekdays.

2. Rearrange my whole writing schedule in a way that hopefully works since I have a bunch more stuff on my plate.
This at least has mostly worked. I’ve been babysitting my new nephew sometimes and did you know babies were a lot of work?

3. Keep trying on the marketing stuff, even if I have no idea how.
I didn’t even get to this. Ugh.

And now for what I’m not going to get done this month.

July Goals
1. Reduce my blogging schedule. I know, it’s a shock. I’ve been at three times a week for over a decade now! Unfortunately, I don’t have as much energy as I used to.

2. Update my etymology page. You know what fun this always is.

3. Get to 90K on my WIP. I probably won’t get this far, but I’m hoping for a miraculous burst of inspiration.

So yeah. No more Saturday posts. I think I’ll intersperse comics with the spam posts now (EDIT: now because my computer crashed, it’s going to be comics for a while because I lost all my spam posts). Thursdays will still be dedicated to etymology, because I still really enjoy doing that. And I’m sure you do too.

What do you want to do this month?

May Goals

Well, as predicted, April was a pretty ugh month. I don’t even remember what I was supposed to be working on.

April Goals
1. Finish the web serial edits. Not sure I’ll be able to get there, but I should be able to get close.
I actually finished this! It’s a miracle! I thought it might take another month. I think it’s pretty good, but of course I’m horrible at judging my own work.

2. Update my etymology page. You know what a treat this always is. Stupid Google.
I did this, though as usual I was unable to get rid of the horrible space between all the words. I swear, Google is breaking Blogger bit by bit to drive us all away. It would explain why it’s suddenly not emailing me blog comments anymore.

3. Find some way to get my work out there more. Not that I have any idea how to do this…
As if I was able to figure this out. I really wish there was a list of clear, specific instructions for this sort of thing.

Okay, I guess. I’m not really looking forward to the stress May’s going to bring with it, though.

May Goals
1. Plan out the second part of the web serial.

2. Keep working on marketing—why does this have to be so hard?

3. Try to recharge in some way so the stress doesn’t cause me to spontaneously combust.

What do you want to do this May? Anything fun? If you’ve signed up for blog comments to be emailed to you, are you still getting them?

Tuesday, April 4, 2023

April Goals

Oh frig. March is done already? But it sucked!!!

March Goals
1. Actually edit the web serial this time.
Hey, I actually started this! It’s a miracle.

2. Hopefully find some way to recharge. And maybe sleep!
Failed this one. I’m so tired. I’ve heard people say they wake up in the mornings no longer feeling tired but I think that might be a lie.

3. Keep searching for a way to get rid of those m*****f*****g rounded window corners in everything I try to use on my computer. Don’t get Windows 11. Stick with 10.
This one’s not my fault, but the fault of Microsoft, who created an operating system designed to inflict torture on people. One of the updates for it literally broke my computer. I had to roll it back, and now it keeps bugging me to download the computer-breaking update. I miss 10 so much. I took it for granted. It was the least awful of all operating systems.

So that was March. It was the worst. I doubt April’s going to be any better.

April Goals
1. Finish the web serial edits. Not sure I’ll be able to get there, but I should be able to get close.

2. Update my etymology page. You know what a treat this always is. Stupid Google.

3. Find some way to get my work out there more. Not that I have any idea how to do this…

Ugh, March. Ugh, April.

What do you want to do this month?

Tuesday, March 7, 2023

March Goals

Well, February was somehow worse than I expected. I don’t know how it always manages to do that.

February Goals
1. Edit the web serial, as it could use a more comprehensive looking at.
Did not get to this, unfortunately. Did not have a lot of free time and had even less energy.

2. Work on some other projects to recharge my creativity. Not sure what, though.
HA HA HA HA HA HA no. I’m so tired.

3. Finish my other WIP.
So close. So very close. A couple of hundred words, I think.

As I said, it was a tough month. March probably isn’t going to be any better. Ugh…

March Goals
1. Actually edit the web serial this time.

2. Hopefully find some way to recharge. And maybe sleep!

3. Keep searching for a way to get rid of those m*****f*****g rounded window corners in everything I try to use on my computer. Don’t get Windows 11. Stick with 10.

Yes, that’s a goal. An important one for my own mental health and sanity.

What do you want to do this month?

October Goals

Somehow it’s October already, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t get anything done I was supposed to. It’s not even winter yet and I already feel like I’m hibernating.

September Goals
1. Keep writing my new project to what I think will end up being the end of the first part.
I didn’t get to the end, as it was slower going than I hoped. I only have about a chapter and a half left, though, so fingers crossed.

2. Figure out how to engage more readers. Ugh, I am so very, very bad at this.
Very minor progress. Almost invisible. But I am working on it.

3. Actually get to the beta notes and edits. I fear I won’t, but I won’t let myself forget about it.
PBBBBBBBBBHHHHHHHHHHTTTTTT no.

Ugh, maybe I’d have more energy to do this stuff if I wasn’t so tired all the time. Anyway, now for this month…

October Goals
1. Finish!!!!!

2. Seriously actually get to the beta notes this time, even if I don’t know what I’m going to do with this project.

3. Crud, it’s time to update my etymology page, isn’t it? This is always such an ordeal.

I remember the days when updating my etymology page was an easy item to check off. I really wish we could go back to the previous version of Blogger, but alas, it is out of reach.

What do you want to do this month?

November Goals

I know I say this every month, but how did this happen??? It’s already November! That can’t be right…

October Goals
1. Beta reads for WIP 1. Any volunteers?
It’s getting done. Finding beta readers is hard!

2. Finish working on my notes for WIP 2. This one’s actually possible.
I actually did this, yay.

3. Update my etymology page. There are so many of them, I think it’s time to create a few separate pages up in the header there. It might make formatting them easier, too.
As you can see, there are now three pages with all the words I’ve etymologized. And a god damn mother$%*&@#$ space in between every paragraph that I can’t get rid of no matter what I try.

So mostly successful, which is pretty good considering how hard it was to trudge through the month. Now for this month…

November Goals
1. More beta reads, obviously. I need a lot of help figuring out how to improve this one.

2. Find something to work on to recharge my creativity. I’ve been feeling very blah about working on my WIPs lately.

3. Thanksgiving. Ugh. Remember when this holiday used to be fun? Because I don’t.

That’s what I want to do this month. What are you up to?

Tuesday, October 5, 2021

October Goals

Oh wow, October already. This year is going by way too fast. Wasn’t it March yesterday? It feels like it was. I don’t even remember what I was supposed to be working on last month, so you can assume I probably didn’t do it.

September Goals
1. Get WIP 1 beta ready. I’m really trying to get this on in good shape. If anyone can take a look at it, let me know.
I didn’t do much work on it and honestly, there’s a lot more I could do on it (I’m terrible at descriptions). I suppose it’s beta ready because I don’t know what I need to work on next.

2. Get drafts done of the synopsis and query for WIP 1.
Wait, this was a goal? I actually did this, holy crap.

3. Get to the notes on WIP 2 if I have the time.
And somehow I did this, too. I still have about a third of the book left to go over, but it is getting done. It’s a miracle.

And now for this month.

October Goals
1. Beta reads for WIP 1. Any volunteers?

2. Finish working on my notes for WIP 2. This one’s actually possible.

3. Update my etymology page. There are so many of them, I think it’s time to create a few separate pages up in the header there. It might make formatting them easier, too.

That’s what I want to do this month. Will any of this actually happen? Who knows? What do you want to do this month?

July Goals

That’s it, half the year is gone. That happened way too fast. What was I up to last month?

June Goals
1. Finish the latest WIP. It’s turned out a bit longer than I expected, but this should be easy.
Hey, I did this! Who knows when I’ll get around to editing it, but the first draft is done.

2. Get to work on the beta reading notes for the old WIP. This one needs a lot more work!
Did not do this. Was too busy with the other stuff. Not sure when I’ll get to this one either, but it might not be worth it at this point.

3. Sigh. Actually work on the editing notes for my other WIP. Maybe it’ll be possible with the other one done.
Miracle of miracles, I actually did this! I got through almost all the notes. There’s just a few pages left. I added almost five thousand words just describing things I skimmed over.

Next, what’s up for July…

July Goals
1. Finish the notes on my WIP and start a new editing pass focused on improving descriptions and reactions, because I’m really bad at this.

2. Update my etymology page. It’s that time again!

3. Start the editing notes for the new WIP. Not sure I’ll have time to get to this, but it’s on the list now so I won’t forget.

That’s what I want to get done this month. What are your plans for July? Is it sweltering for you too?

Mid Year Check In

In a move I’m pretty sure I cribbed from MJ, I’m going to look at the goals I made for the year and see how I’m doing on them. Considering I don’t even remember them, probably not good.

Resolutions 2021
1. Finish the book I’m working on and get it edited.
Hey, this is underway! Look at me actually doing something.

2. Work on the other WIP idea I have and maybe even write it.
I may have actually already done this.

3. Actually query last year’s WIP. Yes, I am terrified.
Probably not going to do this. Unfortunately, I’m more than ever convinced it’s just not good enough to stand out.

4. Possibly work on the sequel WIP I said I’d do last year.
This one’s also likely not going to happen, for basically the same reason as above. Unfortunately, I’m just not able to figure out how to improve it. Sigh…

5. Not die from the illness that’s killing hundreds of thousands of people in my country because people are dumbasses who refuse to wear masks or accept that it’s a dangerous disease.
Well, I’m not dead yet. I even got my first vaccine shot, so I’m doing pretty well on this one. Really hoping none of those variants pop up around here.

6. Try to engage more with social media. I know, that seems crazy. Who would want to? I certainly have no idea how to do it.
Wait, I made this a goal? What the hell was I thinking! Social media is terrible!

7. Not let 2021 be anything like 2020. Shudder.
Not doing too badly so far.

I can’t believe I’m actually making progress. How suspicious. Somebody must be up to no good. What were you hoping to accomplish this year? How is 2021 working out for you?
