September Goals

Well, I’m back on the internet, and I think we can all agree that’s a mistake. Though really, it’s the internet that’s the mistake. Just… all of it. Anyway, goals or whatever.

August Goals
1. Actually attempt to find more writer spaces and beta readers this month.
Like I had the energy to do this. I barely have the energy to talk to all the people I already know.

2. Find something that seems fun to work on.
Eh, kind of. I’m still feeling burnt out on everything, though, and it’s a process to getting back to normal.

3. Birthday. I’m looking forward to it with some trepidation. Did you know the bakery that makes my favorite cake had a fire and is now closed? And there’s no news as to when they’ll open again?
Miraculously, something went right this month and the bakery opened just two weeks before my birthday.

And now for September…

September Goals
1. Find something new to write that actually interests me.

2. Edit something old to post on my other site. Luckily I have tons of options.

3. Try to read some more. Maybe this will help me recharge.

This is what I hope to do this month. What do you want to do?

September Goals

Another goals post, and only a week late. What do I want to do this month? Well, first let’s look at what I was supposed to do last month.

August Goals
1. Actually keep track of my goals this month. I let it slack when I stopped using sticky notes, but now that the evil rounded corners are gone, I can use them again.
Yes, I started keeping track of things. Eventually. Not that there was much to keep track of.

2. Finish Book 2. It’s got, like, three more chapters, so this should be easy.
I was able to do this! Book 2 is “complete”. Which is to say done without being totally edited.

3. BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Could have used more birthday.

Another success. That’s the secret: aim low. Aim so low no one will notice if you fail.

September Goals
1. Continue editing the book and promoting the web serial. I am so bad at this.

2. Work on something pointless that lets me recharge creatively.

3. Figure out what I want to work on next.

Still trying to find something that I want to work on. I need an idea that pulls at me. How do you decide what to work on? What do you want to do this September?

September Goals

I’m writing this a week before the end of the month, so it’s a bit a head of schedule, but it’s also two days before I unplug from everything for a week so I’m probably not getting anything more done.

August Goals
1. Continue work on the new project, which is serial fiction rather than a full MS, so that’s a whole new thing to learn about.
It’s actually going pretty well, at least writing wise. Does anyone care? No. Do I know how to engage people? Also no. But at least I’m happy with the writing.

2. Actually finish the beta notes (and please don’t be too distracted by the above to do it!).
Did not get to this. Honestly, I’ve been very discouraged about this whole process. Writing is easy, but everything that comes next… not so much.

3. BIRTHDAY BIRTHDAY BIRTHDAY!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Again, this hasn’t happened yet, but I’m assuming this is going to go well. Plus there’s cake.

Not really a successful month. And as for September…

September Goals
1. Keep writing my new project to what I think will end up being the end of the first part.

2. Figure out how to engage more readers. Ugh, I am so very, very bad at this.

3. Actually get to the beta notes and edits. I fear I won’t, but I won’t let myself forget about it.

This is the September plan. What do you want to do this month? Are you happy the seasons are finally changing?

September Goals

Is it time to do this already? Didn’t I just have one of these posts? Whatever. It’s September. Time to see what I didn’t get done last month, which was a lot, because I had way too much going on.

August Goals
1. Finish my editing notes on WIP 2 and hopefully get to work on them (we’ll see).
I didn’t get to this, unfortunately.

2. Get back to WIP 1 and again, work on the descriptions. I like the premise so much and think it’s really unique, and I just want the writing to live up to what I’m going for.
Or this. For my birthday month, it was way too stressful!

3. BIRTHDAY BIRTHDAY BIRTHDAY BIRTHDAY BIRTHDAY BIRTHDAY.
At least there weren’t any problems with this.

Now for this month…

September Goals
1. Get WIP 1 beta ready. I’m really trying to get this on in good shape. If anyone can take a look at it, let me know.

2. Get drafts done of the synopsis and query for WIP 1.

3. Get to the notes on WIP 2 if I have the time.

I’m probably overshooting with that last one, but I’d like to keep it on my radar. It has half as many notes as WIP 1 did, so either it’s written better or I’m way more tolerant. What do you want to do this month? You ready for the change in seasons?

September Goals

I’m back! I’d much rather still be gone, but what can you do?

August Goals
1. Finish the edit from last month and really work on the whole telling instead of showing thing.
I did this, and hopefully it’s better. Still a bit tell-y, though.

2. Get to the next editing pass where I work on descriptions in particular.
Yep, did this. Could probably use more work, but each pass is getting better.

3. Birthday! Please don’t let that exclamation point cause the entire thing to be ruined.
Really wish every day could be my birthday. I’d always be having cake.

Okay, so a fairly successful month. Now what?

September Goals
1. Work on word usage. I overuse an embarrassing amount of words and phrases.

2. Get WIP beta reader ready.

3. Look back on the last ten years because holy crap, that’s how long I’ve been blogging.

So that’s my plan. What are you up to this month? Can you believe I’ve been blogging for ten years???

September Goals

Oh, right. This.

August Goals
1. Work on planning the sequel to the WIP. I didn’t expect to do this already, but everything’s been going so well on it, that I’m actually getting to the point where it’s ready to be written.
Well, I failed this goal. Mostly because instead of “planning”, I just went ahead and wrote it. I managed to get 50K down by the end of the month. Whoops.

2. Keep editing. Can’t get distracted by the shiny prospect of first draft writing.
Yeah, this is a major fail. It was too shiny! I couldn’t resist!

3. BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
At least I didn’t manage to screw this one up!

So, yeah. Things definitely didn’t go according to plan. I just enjoy writing about this world so much… I’m already two thirds of the way done. I should’ve known I wouldn’t be able to resist.

September Goals
1. Well,  now that I’ve started, I might as well finish WIP-2.

2. Maybe actually get around to editing those old stories this time.

3. I should also update my etymology page. I don’t even have the case words up yet.

Let’s hope it’s easier to get my goals done this month. What are you up to?

September Goals

How are we in September already? Ugh. UGHHHHHHHHH.

Just fifty more weeks until my birthday.

August Goals
1. Work on the new idea rolling around in my head.
I didn’t do as much as I would have liked. Maybe it was just August, but I was feeling especially lazy.

2. Don’t do anything on the WIP. I need a break from it. I know it seems weird to have not doing something as a goal, but I keep feeling tempted to tweak it some more.
Well, I did this. It was pretty easy. But not as easy as…

3. BIRTHDAY! Birthday birthday birthday. Have I mentioned it’s going to be my birthday?
Not enough cake, if I’m being honest.

All right, what do I need to do this month?

September Goals
1. Prepare my WIP (and myself) for beta reads. I cannot believe this is happening.

2. Work on the notes for my new idea.

3. Update my etymology page. It’s been at least three months since the last one.

So that’s what I want to do this month. What are you planning?

September Goals

Well, I’m back. Back doing stuff. Writing. Editing. Working. And it sucks.

So goals or whatever.

August Goals
1. Finish the book! I don’t know how many more words it’s going to be, but I think I’m getting close to the end. The final confrontation is close…
I didn’t finish it, because of course not, but I did get quite a bit done. I’m almost there!

2. Again, start outlining it. There’s a bunch of stuff I need to figure out.
Hey, I actually did this! It’s a miracle! Plus I figured stuff out! WOO!

3. BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not enough cake.

And now, for this month.

September Goals
1. Again, finish the book. It could actually happen this time!

2. Update the etymology page again. I always forget this and then I have a million words to do and it’s a pain.

3. Make some new cross stitch patterns. Shut up! I like it! Don’t you judge me!

So that’s what I have planned. What are you up to this month?

September Goals

Ugh, it’s September. Ugh, I have to go back to work. UGGGGGGHHHHHHH.

Whatever. Goals and stuff.

August Goals
1. Start a new cross-stitching pattern. Hopefully it won’t take as long as the last one did.
I ended up deciding not to because it gets so exhausting staring at a screen after a long day of staring at a screen. Oh well.

2. Write something fun that I enjoy writing!
Yay I had some fun writing this month!

3. BIRTHDAY BIRTHDAY BIRTHDAY!!!
BIRTHDAY BIRTHDAY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, now what month is this? Oh, right. September.

September Goals
1. Get back into the grind. Ugh.

2. Look through some of my old stories and see if they need any work done.

3. My blogiversary! That should give me an excuse to goof off.

So that’s what I want to do this month. What about you? What are you up to?

September Goals

Ugh, my vacation was not as restful as I would have liked. I could have used another month or two. And is it that time again already? I swear, it should only be April, May at the latest…

August Goals
1. Try to write 10K on one of my WIPs. I hope I have the time! Maybe during my vacation.
Ha ha, no. No. Because life saw all the free time I could use for writing and punished me for it.

2. Get my birthday week posts ready. These will probably be stick figure comics : )
Well, at least I did this.

3. VACATION!!!!!! Do I have enough exclamation points?
Finally, a goal I can get behind!

I was so optimistic then. That should be a lesson: never, ever feel good about anything ever. Because life will hurt you for it.

September Goals
1. Make food money. ‘Cause, you know. Eating and stuff.

2. Don’t let life sucker punch again.

3. Maybe, just maybe, get to write.

September will hopefully be better, but again, any optimism will be punished. What are you up to this month? Glad that school is starting again?

September Goals

None is going to be “be on time”, that’s for sure. Or “be productive”. Ugh, September. Just ugh.

Let’s see how I did last month…

August Goals

1. Work on REMEMBER notes. I’m only putting “work on” because it is vacation month after all. Plus…well, you’ll see in my next goal.
I did a few things, but not nearly as much as I should have. The end of the month, before the vacation, I mean, was somewhat unpleasant (although nothing compared to the beginning of September).

2. Add 20K to my new WIP. Yes, you read that right. I started another one. The idea was nagging at me and I couldn’t ignore it!
Not quite 20K, but not bad at all. I’d call this a win.

3. VACATION!!! WOO!
Well, obviously.

Kind of meh. And now, September…

September Goals

1. Work on REMEMBER notes. I’d really prefer getting them all done, but…it’s not going to happen and no amount of goading myself will help, so I might as well be realistic and promise myself to do something.

2. Add 10K to the new WIP. Only ten because I really want to make some headway on those notes, and I figure it will be better not to over commit.

3. Work on making the stick figure comics a regular part of the blog. Honestly, I’m surprised how many people seem to enjoy them. I probably won’t be able to think of something funny every week, but maybe every other.

Ugh, September. UGHHHHH.

What are your goals for this month? Anything cool going on with you guys?

September Goals

Hello from the past! I’m actually writing this in the middle of August because the week that you’re reading this in is part of my blogcation and I’m not going to feel like writing then. What’s it like in the future? Are there any flying cars yet? I mean, besides the one that’s half-car, half-plane.

Writing form the past might make it difficult to evaluate my monthly goals, seeing how the month isn’t done yet, but considering the fact that my month is ending early anyway because of my vacation, who the hell cares?

August Goals

1. Keep on social media and keep searching for more beta readers for my YA apocalyptic. I really hope I remember it this month. Not that I know how to go about doing so…well, the goal should be to figure that out, then.
Dang it, I was so bad with this one. I should have joined up with Write On Con, but it really happened at a bad time for me—I was busy with stuff that kept me from the computer and then was so worn out I didn’t feel like it anyway. Bah. Excuses!

2. Add 20K to new project. It’s a paranormal with an apocalyptic twist because I can’t really stray that far.
I didn’t quite make this, but I was close, and I did try as hard as I could to get this done. I call this one a win.

3. Add 10K to my horror side project. Also, maybe reveal the horror story I wrote to you guys.
Not ten thousand words, no. I did work on the horror story I wrote, but there was no time to share it. I’ve been thinking of waiting until October anyway. So it will get done, just not right now : ).

September Goals

1. Work on being more social online. It’s hard for me, but I want to be more active on the sites I’ve joined and get myself more out there. Ugh, I’m not looking forward to this.

2. Add 30K to my new project. I better do it, too!

3. Actually add something to the horror side project this time. I also have a few more horror ideas I want to expand (they’re just fragments right now; I’d like some actual thoughts on what to do with them).

I hope I’m successful this time. So what are you up to this month? Do you parents have more free time now that the kids are back in school or are you busier than ever?
