I long ago gave up on trying to remember sleep ideas. Generally, they don't turn out to be as good as you think they are when you're half asleep, kind of like how it is when people get "great ideas" when they're drunk, I would assume.
I did that a lot in college. I would be having trouble with my homework. I would "solve" the problem in my dream. And then when I went to try it... Yeah, it never worked out.
I can't remember who the author is ... But someone said whenever he got an idea while lying on the bed, he would immediately get up, and jot it down on a book; and those ideas helped him while writing a novel.
I have solved quite a few plot problems with those 3am epiphanies. And have also woken up to find a lot of illegible notes scribbled in my bedside notebook. I'm sure each and every one of them was gold, though... :)
That fits with my weird dreams.
ReplyDeleteum... But then you made a cartoon about it?

ReplyDeleteNo because I don't write them down because I make the other mistake of "I won't forget this."
