Have you ever accidentally stepped on her tail?
Cats sometimes wag the tip of their tail. If it's when it's purring then I think it's because they are feeling good. But I have seen them wag their tail, when they are readying for a fight with another cat.
She thinks she's hiding, but the tail gives her away.
