May Goals

Well, we survived April. It wasn’t a decade long like March was, but it was at least a few years. I think I spent the entire time screaming. So if you heard a high pitched “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA” that was me.

Did I have goals for last month? It was so long ago I can’t remember.

April Goals
1. Finish edits for the other WIP so it’s at the point where it’s ready for beta readers.
Unfortunately, I didn’t do this. I wanted to, but every time I opened the file I couldn’t think about anything but the… you know.

2. Finally finish working on the notes I made for WIP’s sequel.
Same as above. Honestly, I’m not blaming myself for this one. It was a really tough month to be a human being.

3. Find a way not to be overwhelmed.
I did do this, although I did it by starting a completely new WIP. Yeah. Well, it was the only thing that distracted me.

That was April. Now for May.

May Goals
1. Get to 50K on the new WIP. Since I’m already at 10K and I just started a week ago, this shouldn’t be a problem.

2. If I have the time, keep working on my old projects that I really shouldn’t abandon.

3. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. This really isn’t a goal. Just something I needed to get out.

What are you doing this month? Stay safe out there (or preferably isolated in your homes).

  1. Tough month to be a human being - that about sums it up!

  2. If the new WIP is flowing, stick with it.

  3. I think doing anything at all this month is an achievement, so you shouldn't beat yourself up about not reaching your goals. If your new WIP is the one that's calling to you, then that's the one you should be working on. Revisions will still be there when you're done.

  4. I can't seem to get it together at all. I have so much free time yet I am getting nothing done. I usually read and/or listen to 12-18 books a month. In April, it was only 7!! Six e-audiobooks and one novel. That's terrible. Worst I have even done since I started keeping a log of my reading back in January, 1998. I blame it all on Trump!!

  5. Your head is in an entirely different place than normal. It would make sense that you'd have a hard time writing the normal stuff. A new project sounds perfect. And you'll be able to edit and work on the other once things have settled a bit or once we reach a new normal.

  6. Sounds like the road in writing is not straight. Editing does that to one.

  7. I like that third goal for May. Definitely one I can relate to.

Glad you have a new WIP to help distract you. Whatever works these days, right?

  8. I thought April flew by though every day seemed the same. Maybe it was like just one long day and then zap, April was done.

  9. April was when I was locked in.
From May 4, there is no restriction for people to move on the streets between 7 am and 7 pm.
Though not many have poured out on the streets, the worry on everyone's mind is whether there will be a spike in the number after two weeks.
    Keeping our fingers crossed.

  10. April was a rough month for being creative, so it's understandable you struggled. My productivity for April was pretty meh as well.

  11. It has felt like the last few weeks have been dragging on forever.
