October

The only thing that drives me nuts about October…

If I’m lucky, I’ll be done raking in time for Halloween. And I swear, they really do all come down at once like that.

  1. And that's not even a pine tree. Sneaky bastard.

  2. And just once you think you're done raking for the year... no, wind blows some in from the house next door.

  3. Ah, October. When the Santa Anas kick up, and we're sure to get several ambulance calls to the school for asthma attacks.

I believe you when you say all the needles come down at once. I'm sure it happens just like that.

  4. Do you have to rake them up? Why not just leave them to disintegrate naturally under the tree? I hate gardening, so that's what I'd do. But then, I don't care if my yard looks a mess. Or I pretend to anyway...

  5. I suppose one slightly decent thing about this ridiculous swamp state in which I'm living is the amount of raking I'm not doing this October. But yes, until now, I had the exact same experience every fall. They're such a hassle to rake. I never seem to get them all, either.

  6. I'm not big on raking. I tend to just leave them there. The leaves add to the soil, no?
