The Important Thing

A couple of years ago, I talked about how there was a blood drive where they gave away Girl Scout cookies to anyone who donated. Obviously I was all over that. And they do it every year, so of course I’ve been there each time. But there was a slight problem this time.
Because honestly, what else matters?

  1. Did they let you keep the cookies?
I have a thing about needles, so donating blood is right out the door for me. No cookie in the world would be worth it.

  3. Ah, Girl Scout cookies...

Although, the anemic thing is troubling.

  4. The time I gave blood, we didn't get the cookies until the very end, after it was over.

  5. I always take iron supplements for the week before I donate or I get turned away every time. Not enough red meat and you should totally get to keep the cookies.

  6. Ha. So did you get to keep the cookies?

  7. I'm never allowed to donate blood because I lived in England in the early '90s when there was Mad Cow Disease. I was a vegetarian then, so no chance I contracted it, but I've never been allowed to donate blood.
