January Goals

Oh, how did this happen? How is it 2024? This is wrong. Worse, this is an election year! AAAAAAAAAA!

December Goals
1. Finish my WIP.
Yay, I did this! It needs so much work before it’s readable by other humans, but the first draft is done!

2. Keep editing and posting my web serial.
Thankfully, this was also easy.

3. The holidays! Maybe they won’t be bleak and full of despair!
Meh, they were kind of. The countdown to the new year was more of a death march.

Ugh, January. UGH, 2024.

January Goals
1. Work on some old projects to recharge enough to edit.

2. Update my etymology page again. Remember when this didn’t used to be torture?

3. UGH! Jury Duty! Hopefully I won’t get picked, because that would suck. And have I mentioned the bridge that I have to take to the courthouse is partially closed?

This month is going to be hell from number 3 alone. I’m not even sure I’ll have time to visit blogs today (or yesterday for that matter, because that was when the jury duty started). This year has started like a kick to the head. What do you want to accomplish this month?

January Goals

I can’t believe it’s January already. Someone has to speak to the manager about this, because it can’t be right.

December Goals
1. Keep plugging away at my new WIP.
A mix of holidays, computer problems, and being exhausted means I only added about 10K words, which is low for me. I’m glad I added SOMETHING though.

2. Do all the end of the year stuff I have to do.
Got this done, but it was an easy goal.

3. Now it’s Christmas, ugh.
I’m still totally wiped out from it. How is a holiday more exhausting than anything else?

Not bad, I guess. I wish my word count was higher, but whatever. Now for this month…

January Goals
1. Finish the first part of my web serial. Looks to be on schedule so far.

2. Add another 20K to my other project.

3. Update my etymology page. Ugh, it’s that time again.

All doable, I suppose. Frankly, it’s kind of a low bar at this point. Aim low, kids.

What do you want to do this month?

January Goals

A bit late, but I’m sure this won’t prevent me from not completing my goals for this month. But first let’s look at my goals for December…

December Goals
1. Add 40K to new project. Will that finish it? Maybe, maybe not. We’ll see.
Did this, maybe even more than 40K. It did indeed finish the book. Well, the first draft anyway.

2. Keep working on those beta reads. I need more, as for some reason people have lives that don’t revolve around me.
Got some very helpful feedback, though of course I could use more. I could also be better about implementing that feedback, too!

3. Christmas. I’m already mentally preparing myself. Shudder.
It actually wasn’t too bad, mostly because I didn’t have to spend a lot of time with people. Ah, pandemic, how I love you for this.

So a pretty successful month, though I wish I did more with the beta reads. It’s always hard for me to do this stuff. As for this month…

January Goals
1. Actually work on the beta reading notes I have, and of course get more people to look at it.

2. Work on the notes I made for the new WIP.

3. Update my etymology page. It’s that time again!

That’s the plan for January, but how much of it will I complete? Probably a lot less than I want to! So what are you up to this month?

January Goals

I have my yearly goals down, so I suppose it’s time to do this. Plus I usually just copy and paste my goals in and add my notes on them because, you know, that’s way easier, but for some reason pasting between Word documents is causing it to come out in a weird format I’ve never used in my life. Even removing the formatting didn’t really work because for some reason they’re in all uppercase so it looks like I’m shouting. So now I have to type them in by hand, like some sort of animal.

I know there are far more pressing things to worry about right now, but man. Frigging Word.

December Goals
1. Update etymology page. I’m still trying to get rid of those damn double spaces between the words.
I updated it, but I still have no idea how to get rid of those double spaces. No, going in and removing them by hand doesn’t work at all. What the hell is it with formatting issues this month?????

2. More beta reads. My book definitely needs more opinions.
Well, it’s underway!

3. Figure out what project I want to work on next.
Considering I’m more than halfway through a first draft, I think I’ve done this.

At least something has gone right last month. Now for this month…

January Goals
1. Finish the book I started writing (or at least get close, depending on how long it ends up).

2. Finish work on more beta notes.

3. Get my query ready (gulp).

Let’s see how these get derailed over the next few weeks. What are your hopes for January?

January Goals

About time we’ve gotten to this. The month is only almost half over. I can’t even remember what I was supposed to be doing last month.

December Goals
1. Get WIP-1 out to beta readers (any volunteers?) and actually work on the synopsis and stuff.
I did a little work on these, but definitely not enough. It was a stressful month.

2. Edit WIP-2. Man, I can’t believe this sounds like the easier goal.
This is another one that I did do SOME work on, but definitely not enough. Ugh.

3. Christmas! New Years! Please let it be a nice break!
If stress could be bottled and injected into someone’s blood stream, that’s what the end of the year was like for me. And the beginning of this one.

It was really a tough month, and so far, January has been equally as hard. And there’s still so much to go.

January Goals
1. Write the short story I have planned, and edit one of my old ones.

2. Figure out what to do about my query/synopsis/log line. I want to make them good, obviously. I just don't know how to do that.

3. Work on daily goal planning for my writing.

Is it possible for people to hibernate? Because I’d really like to do that about now. What about you? What are you up to this month?

January Goals

Oh man. I can’t believe it’s January again. A whole new year. Is it too much to hope that it’ll be a good one for once?

Anyway, here’s what I was supposed to do last month:

1. Update etymology page. I think it’s been a few months and those words add up.
Hey, I did this, for all your etymology needs.

2. Hopefully write something.
Meh, kind of. It’s been hard to find any motivation lately. You know what with the world being such a dumpster fire.

3. Christmas. Yeesh.
I survived. And more surprisingly, so did everyone else.

So what should I do this month?

1. Find a better way to keep track of my goals and resolutions, even if I have to staple a paper to my computer to remember.

2. Write! Something! Anything!

3. Do all the stupid adult stuff I have to do. Ugh, I hate being an adult. Everything has to be difficult.

That’s what I want to do for January. What are you up to this month?

January Goals

It’s time to make some goals for the month. Well, technically the first day of the month would have been the time and it’s now the tenth. But there’s a one in there so it counts. First let’s see how I did on last month’s goals.

December Goals
1. Do 10,000 more words in the WIP. If I was able to do it last month, I better be able to do it now.
Well, I did it! Again! Somehow!

2. Maybe update my blog design. It’s been YEARS.
I almost forgot, but I did it! It’s not too bad, either.

3. Christmas. AAAAAAAAAAGH.
Well, Christmas itself wasn’t too bad, although it kind of sucked considering that another uncle died two days before.

I think the most important thing is that 2016 is dead and it can’t come back. Now for this month…

January Goals
1. 10K more. Keep up the pace!

2. Update my etymology page again. I don’t want it to get out of hand!

3. Do all the stupid adult crap I have to do. I hate being an adult.

So that’s what I have planned. What are you up to now that you’ve escaped 2016?

February Goals

January has come and gone. You don’t have to worry about your New Year’s resolutions anymore. The worst of winter is behind us…hopefully. Oh hell, what if it’s waiting around the corner ready to clobber us again?

Okay, trying to calm down now. Calm blue ocean, calm blue ocean. Time to look at my goals.

January Goals
1. Finish up the project I’ve been working on. Yeah, I know I’m vague. I don’t know why. I just don’t like getting into specifics before something is complete.
You know what you’d think would be easy? Making a cross-stitch pattern. And you’d be wrong. You could devote hours to it almost every day for two months and still only be half done with all the little boxes and dozens of colors. And maybe you’d be mad by that time. Referring to yourself in the second person. Getting ready to snap at any moment. Um, anyway. Not done yet.

2. Actually do some non-work writing this month! Please!
No : (. I’m totally bummed about this. I know I was busy doing the stupid pattern that is devouring my sanity, but still.

3. Do A-to-Z Challenge posts! If I want to be able to do it this year, then it’s especially important that I get them done ahead of time.
Hey, I did this! Yay!

I put in a solid effort to anything. The only one I consider a real fail is 2, but only because I’ve been focusing so much on 1. The lesson here is to never, ever agree to make a picture for my mother.

February Goals
1. Either finish that stupid pattern or go insane trying.

2. Maybe write this time, dang it!

3. Do all the stupid miscellaneous stuff I have to do this month, like taxes and signing up for the Challenge reveal and finally learning how to spell miscellaneous. February seems to be a popular month for all the little extras.

Okay, that’s my February plan. What are you up to this month?

January Goals

Ugh, January. We have to go back to work. And do stuff. And nothing fun. Ugh. All right, what was I supposed to do last month…

December Goals
1. Look at one of my old projects and revise it.
It was my one real goal for that month and I wasn’t able to do it because I spent all my free time working on other projects. Sigh…

2. Hopefully finish up with the secret project.
Uh, kind of not sure where this is going right now.

3. <sigh> Christmas…
Well, I got through this one alive and more surprisingly, so did the rest of my family. I guess that’s something.

Okay, January…

January Goals
1. Finish up the project I’ve been working on. Yeah, I know I’m vague. I don’t know why. I just don’t like getting into specifics before something is complete.

2. Actually do some non-work writing this month! Please!

3. Do A-to-Z Challenge posts! If I want to be able to do it this year, then it’s especially important that I get them done ahead of time.

So, that’s the plan for January. I think I can do it. What are you up to this month? How’s the new year treating you so far?

February Goals

There, I’m finally back to regular posting. Man, January was such a mess! Both with the two feet of snow that came piling down and also the whole lack of computer thing. That put a hamper on things. I’m also not looking forward to this month because I won’t have as much time to write as I like since I really need to start worrying about having enough money to, you know, not starve to death. It’s an issue sometimes.

Anyway, let’s get into the goals…

January Goals

1. REMEMBER: continue word edits and writing edits, and finish the freaking pacing edits.
Well, maybe I would have if my stupid computer didn’t break!!!

2. Figure out the story for the book I’m rewriting. (You’d think this would be easy, but because of all the problems it had, it’s going to need some thought)
I actually did this before the whole broken computer thing. Of course I got all the little things done before it went kerflooey. That’s how it goes.

3. Write A-to-Z Challenge posts.
Also got this one done, I think just a few days before previously mentioned kerflooey.

I’m still frustrated that I couldn’t get the most important thing done, even if it wasn’t my fault. Plus now I don’t know when I’ll have the time…

February Goals

1. Try to find enough time to do those frigging edits on REMEMBER.

2. Get caught up on everything I fell behind on without a computer.

3. Don’t starve to death. Maybe.

Ugh, February. Why you got to be like this? Why you make me hate you?

What are you up to this month? Anything fun?

January Goals

Okay, so I think I’ve gone on enough about how I can’t believe it’s 2015 already (seriously though, can you believe it’s already 2015?!?). And since I posted my resolutions last week, it’s time to post my goals. But first, last month…

December Goals
1. Do my color partition for REMEMBER and solve any issues in regards to pacing. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before as part of my editing routine. Maybe I’ll go into more detail later.
I did do the partition and did some work on pacing, but then I got distracted by bad writing and had to deal with that, and then I got distracted by bad word usage (42 uses of the word manage…eek) and had to do that. So it’s a partial success. I didn’t get done what I wanted to, but I did get something done.

2. Do my sensory color partition for REMEMBER and solve any issues. Again, I should explain this sometime.
Did not do this, for reasons stated above. I feel satisfied that I’m still editing, so at least I’m doing something.

3. Christmas, yay!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! PRESENTS! CANDY!!!! CHEESECAKE!!!!!!!

My blood must be fifty percent sugar by now. Anyway, goals…

January Goals

1. REMEMBER: continue word edits and writing edits, and finish the freaking pacing edits.

2. Figure out the story for the book I’m rewriting. (You’d think this would be easy, but because of all the problems it had, it’s going to need some thought)

3. Write A-to-Z Challenge posts.

Okay, so that’s the plan for this month. I believe I’m sticking to my realistic-goal resolution, as well as actually getting things done. So what are you up to this month?
