Less than optimal is an understatement.

Was it a "use by" date or a "best by" date?
I thought some scientists did an experiment on the non-expiration of cheese sticks. Oh wait, no that was Twinkies.
But cheese sticks... I'd still risk it. I mean, if it was milk, definitely not. But some things I'd sniff and still use if it looked OK.
I check dates even when I buy stuff so I seldom have anything on my shelves that is expired. My mother used to have things in her kitchen that were a few years gone.
Well, at least she's not just eating it.
