November Goals

Ooh, this is going to be a bad one, I can tell. October was a tough month. It seemed like there was constantly something going on, I wasn’t sleeping well and tired all the time, and, oh yeah, it finished off with a power outage that meant I couldn’t use my electronics. Because it’s not like I need those!

It was a frustrating month and I’m glad to see it gone.

October Goals
1. Write in my WIP! Please actually finish it this time!
I’m sad/frustrated to say that I didn’t work on it at all. I couldn’t figure out anything I wanted to write so rather than push it, I ignored it for a month in hopes that I would feel better about it later. I guess that’s kind of true.

2. Halloween spooky stuff, yay!
At least I did this!

3. Rake the pine needles. Yes, it’s that time of year again.
Okay, I did it, but I’ve only barely started. But this one’s not my fault. The first have of the month was so warm that the pine needles weren’t dropping, which means I can’t exactly rake them. So I’m going to have to finish this one this month, too.

Man, October sucked.

November Goals
1. Sigh. Write in the book. Let’s see how badly I’ll fail it this month.

2. Thanksgiving. Ugh, did anyone feel a foreboding chill just now?

3. Go through some old projects and notes and see if anything’s worth salvaging.

What are you up to this month? Are you hoping it’s better than October, too?

  1. No pine need raking this month? That's good. I just mow ours.
You need to spend Thanksgiving with friends rather than family. That's what we do.

  2. October is one of those reasons I don't set goals.
No work happened in October. None so far in November, either.

  3. Don't beat yourself up about not working on your book. It'll still be there when you're inspired to work on it again. In the meantime, write something else. A short story maybe, or start something new. That always helps me get unstuck.

  4. This is one of the great benefits to having Thanksgiving in October- get it out of the way early.

It also helps that I'm not anywhere near those stress triggers in the family too.

  5. Sorry October didn't work out. I do like Thanksgiving, so no foreboding chill here. Of course, I don't get to spend it with who I usually spend it with (as they went and moved to Ohio!).

  6. Before I moved, Thanksgiving would fill me with a foreboding chill, but it's not as bad now. Especially whereas I no longer have a job that requires me to work Thanksgiving night. :)

And like Kate, when I get stuck on a WIP, I write something else for a while. I get inspired to return to the original WIP in no time.

Sorry October sucked. Hope November treats you better!

  7. Some months are tougher than others. At least October is over for you and you have new goals to work toward.
