I know what you mean. I'm fortunate in that, although we can hear traffic, my wife and I live in a pretty secluded area on a mostly private road. Out here we have some, uh, backwoods, shall I say, individuals who feel the need to race their confederate flag-adorned pick-up trucks about 40 miles per hour over the speed limit for these back roads.
I was going to comment about the signs I see around here about loud or modified exhaust, which they say will be fined. But as I couldn't remember the exact wording, I went looking online, and I discovered that they have enacted laws here (as of January 2019) making those illegal and subject to fine (https://www.californiacarlaws.com/exhaust-noise/).
O, I too hate them! It's so irritating. I thought laws are very strict out there. Maybe some people still get away! Here too there are rules on noisy horns and engines, but enforcement is pretty lax.
That is irritating. But I've grown more used to the noise over the years because we live a few blocks from the airport, and a loud car or motorcycle engine is nothing in comparison to a plane or helicopter taking off.
I hate them too. They deserve having their cars put into a compactor, and them forced to watch.
