That.
I found it on my head among all the brown strands.
It is not brown. It is not any color. It is white.
It is my first gray hair.
It reminds me that my mother has been dyeing her hair since I was born (when she was thirty one) because of how gray she was. My sister hasn’t sported her actual hair color in a decade, so I assume she has no idea whether or not she’s graying, and if I had to guess, I’d say that’s on purpose. And now, with me not even twenty seven yet, I may very well be on my way to my legacy.
I’m going to go cry myself into a gallon of Peanut Butter Cup ice cream now.
Yeah, but look at it this way: you get to CHOOSE your hair color. Hot damn! That can be fun. Choose to let it be the brown that it is with an occasional white/gray hair or try on something different. Go darker. Go lighter. Just play with it. Life is too short to take things like hair color too very seriously. At least that's my take on it......and I have every changing hair color to prove it. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, piffle.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite elementary school teacher had wonderful silver hair, and she wasn't 30, yet, either, at the time. She said it had been that way since she was in high school.
And you can see my hair loss in my high school yearbook photos. My freshman year was my last year with full hair.
So, you know, bah.
I got my first gray hair in high school. Have had them ever since. Should dye my hair, but I have enough issues remembering to in to get it cut.
ReplyDeleteYou've got years yet before you need to worry about this.
I've had grey hair for years now.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it will go completely white really fast. That might look really cool.
My father went grey overnight after he was nearly killed in a horse accident. It was a lovely shade of silver. I started streaking my hair years ago and when I got a few grey hairs I went platinum blond and will grow into it one day, lol! Luckily we have options!
ReplyDeleteThanks for following my blog. I've followed yours now. I'm the white-haired young lady, (((giggle)))
Denise
Aww. Don't despair. I've been finding those for some time and I still haven't needed to resort to coloring my hair. (Going gray usually takes a while.)
ReplyDeleteAgree with Alex, too. My mom colored her hair (its brunette natural color) for years. It actually brought out the lines in her face and made her look older. When she finally let it go gray/white, she looked younger. Seriously. Not kidding. My husband has awesome salt and pepper hair, too. It's one of his best features.
Mother nature knows what we need, most of the time. ;)
No worries. It happens to all of us. I'm 30 and my dark hair is skipping gray and going straight to white. Might be cool later on, I don't know. We'll see. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining my site! I gave you a Shout-Out there today. :)
Yikes! I'm 24 and no gray or white hairs yet, but all of my uncles were balding by the time they were my age. I'm glad I'm a girl and still have more hair.
ReplyDeleteAt least enjoy the ice cream! It's only one hair. ;)
My uncles were, too. I hope you don't gray as early as this old lady did. ;)
DeleteLOL! I got my first (stress-induced) white hairs at the age of 23--a whole patch of them. At 32, I'm plucking like a maniac. I should dye, but I kind of like the white--says I'm a veteran of a tough life, eh? Wear your battle scars proudly. ;)
ReplyDeleteConsidering how much stress I give myself, I'm surprised I don't have more. :P
DeleteHey, nice new place you have here! I got my first gray hair at 39, but it's coming in slowly. Still haven't dyed it yet at 53. I'm glad I have the option of dyeing it, though, if/when I want to.
ReplyDeletelol... I got my first grey hair at 21. Wimper...
ReplyDeleteI would no doubt have some grey in my hair... I just shave it, so I'll never otherwise see so.
ReplyDeleteMy paternal grandmother went grey quickly and young, because of a nervous breakdown.
My maternal grandfather, on the other hand, didn't have a single grey hair until his late seventies.
I've got a few grey hairs as well. I think I got my first around 31 or so. But I know a girl who started getting grey hairs at age SEVEN.
