Vacation Photos #4

My bed, with a huge lump under the blanket.
Where’s Bluey? And where did that mysterious lump in the bed come from?

Underneath the blanket is Bluey the cat. Shocking.
Another mystery solved. I’ll be back next week. Probably. If I’m not, you’ll probably read about what I did on the news.

Vacation Photos #3

Bluey the cat asleep on my bed, stretched out so she's very long.
Bluey still seems so small, and yet when she stretches out…

The corner of my bed, with Peaches curled up asleep, barely visible beyond the quilt and pillow.
I spent ten minutes looking for Peaches before I realized she was tucked away in the corner of my bed.

Vacation Photos #2

My cats Peaches and Bluey sleeping on my bed.
There are Peaches and Bluey, doing the only activity they enjoy doing together: sleeping on my bed. Well, Bluey likes doing lots of activities, but they mostly involve jumping on Peaches’s head, and she’s not so fond of that.

The blue sky with a V of geese flying through.
Spotted these guys outside, honking as loud as they possibly could as they headed north. It’s probably too hot for them here.

It’s A Butt

I just want to show you the best apple I’ve ever seen.

I laughed way too long at this one.

See? They’re getting along. Kind of. When Bluey isn’t leaping down on Peaches, at least.

Bun Sighting!

Saw another bunny outside. Personally, I prefer them to the groundhogs. The bunnies don’t eat my apples.

I have no idea what that is next to the bunny, since if I got any closer, it would have run away. But I was on a school field, so I assume some sort of ball.

No idea what this thing is. I’ve never seen anything like it. It pulled over across the road for a few minutes, then drove off. Weirdly, I saw it drive by the next day, too.

Baby Blue

I have a new friend!!!

She’s so cute. And, as a kitten, very, very pesty. I made the mistake of asking my mom what to call her, and she suggested Bluey, and… the name stuck.

Here she is beating up my socks. Peaches is not thrilled that there is a new baby in the house. She says she’s supposed to be the baby.

Vacation Photos #4: Comfy

I can’t put up pictures and not have one of Peaches.

She loves resting under the chair in my bedroom, where I toss my winter coat when it’s not winter. She particularly loves sleeping with her neck on the bar, because that’s somehow comfortable for her.

Vacation Photos #3: Black And Yellow

Saw this pretty bird on my mom’s bird bath. I have no idea what kind of bird it is, I just know it’s not one I’ve seen before.

Vacation Photos #2: Bun Sighting

Startled this guy when I went out front. Also pictured: spray paint from the DOT from when they were marking the gas line during the dreadful water pipe replacement.

Vacation Photos #1: Fuzz

I spotted this little guy out on the sidewalk. Not the usual type of caterpillar I see around here.

Nautilus

I’ve never actually seen a snail before, so I thought this was really neat. Also, I’d like to point out that this little guy was smaller than the nail on my little finger. So quite tiny.

Ivy

Not actually sure this is poison ivy, just noticed the “leaves of three”. I’m definitely not touching it, though.

Cardinal

It’s brown, so obviously a female, but it was definitely a cardinal.

Vacation Peaches 3

The Orangus Pestifloofus likes to make her home in soft, warm places, especially brand new quilts people got for their birthday.

Vacation Peaches 2

And now we see the spore of the Orangus Pestifloofus, which reproduces by shooting clumps of fur off of her body and onto furniture and rugs.

Vacation Peaches 1

And now we see the rare Orangus Pestifloofus in her natural habitat: sitting on or in something you want to use.

Eclipse

Well, yesterday was the big eclipse. It was way lamer than they said it would be.

That was the sun during the nearest to totality we got around here. No, I’m not actually looking at the sun. I’m not an idiot. I just kind of aimed my phone up and took pictures, then found one that actually looked like something. I had a colander that was pretty good at showing the eclipse from the sun pouring through the holes, but I could never get a good picture of it. Here’s my play by play of the day:

2:00 EDT: Nothing yet.

2:15 EDT: Still no visible change from the colander, although the ambient light was dimmer.

2:36 EDT: Sun is looking a little lopsided there.

2:47 EDT: The half-sun shadow I see is supposed to be the most eclipsed it’s going to be around here. But if anything, it’s brighter outside because the clouds cleared a bit.

2:55 EDT: Still kind of dim, but there’s nothing eclipse-y going on here.

3:15 EDT: Sun back to normal. I’m not sure anything even happened. I’m beginning to think this whole eclipse thing was a scam.

What a total waste. I mean, it was better than working, but not by enough. Did you see anything cool yesterday? Do you know when the next eclipse where you live is?

Apples

I read an article saying (okay, if you want to get technical reading) that an apple a day may not keep the doctor away, but it certainly lowers cholesterol. And helps fight heart disease. And can help you lose weight. Now if only I had some idea of where to find some apples…

Oh, look. There’s a bowl of apples from the tree in the backyard.

And a bigger bowl.

And a basket.

Nope. No idea.
