Indignation

More conversations between me and my mother.

She was absolutely incensed by these “boot sweaters”. Which I guess go over boots? I don’t know. It does seem like a weird idea.

  1. Never heard of or seen boot sweaters. Sounds dumb. Your boots are supposed to keep YOU warm.
Giant hair. Not sure which was worse, hair metal or mall hair. I vote for mall hair.

  2. I never understood legwarmers. Why not just wear those tall sock that were in fashion at the time?

  3. I had to look up boot sweaters. They look different than leg warmers do.

  4. That's what I get for being completely out of the loop with fashion.

  5. The 80s were awesome. So... um... I don't have a word.

  6. I had such a thing for legwarmers in the '80s! I had several pairs...

  7. I thought they kind of went in the top of the boot, so as to keep the cool air from getting in? Something like that.

Legwarmers were done by '85. Really, they hit their peak in about '83. I never saw the point, myself, and I was in junior high at the time, when I should have been conforming to the style.

  8. Back in the day, we wore them with sneakers while working out. They really do keep your legs warm. I was an aerobic instructor so I had them all colors. I'm glad they're back but they probably won't stick around long.

  9. Well, OBVIOUSLY they can't call them legwarmers. Everyone remembers how dumb legwarmers were.

  10. I understand that legwarmers kept your legs warm but boots are kind of fulfilling the same function, aren't they? They don't need their own little sweaters!
