Quakes

This is a story about the last time there was an earthquake around here.

Seriously, I slept through what was, for the region, a rather large earthquake. But five seconds of the fan clicking and BOOM. Awake.

  1. Hah!

The last time we had a quake here one could feel, I was in a campus library. It set off the evacuation signal for the building. Most people did so in an orderly fashion. I remember one guy though, bolted out like lightning- if he would have been blocked by a grandma with a walker, he'd have shoved her out of his way, that's how frantic he was.

    Nerves of steel, that one.

  2. The last earthquake we had out here woke my wife and I up, but all three of our kids slept through it.

  3. I felt the last one we had on this side of the country. Just barely though.

  4. I've never felt one. When I was a kid I remember feeling dizzy and seriously tired one night and thinking there was one, but everyone around me treated me like I was crazy.

  5. The earthquakes generally wake me. Unless it's a nothing one. Then it won't. But I do go right back to sleep after.

  6. The last time I was in an earthquake was a while back. The cats woke me up (and my poor arms and legs showed it.) My husband slept through it and barely woke up long enough to say "Tell the ogres to stop shaking the house". Yeah, he still hasn't lived that one down.

  7. The last time we had an earthquake, a very small one, the dogs went nuts. But those odd noises like fans wake me up too.
