Another April bites the dust. The Challenge is over and once again I completed it with twenty six days of etymology. I think my favorite day was X, just because of how perfect it was to do the letter and not a word starting with X because man, those are hard to find.
I had fun this year. I met some new people, I read all the cool things that you guys came up with for your posts. I didn’t get to as many blogs as I wanted, but sometimes I was just so tired that it was a struggle to pay my regular visits.
One thing that I think could be improved on following Challenges is finding blogs with topics you like. There were like a thousand blogs in the sign-up list, and while you can add tags as to what kind of blog you have, I think it’s too broad to be helpful, especially if a Challenge theme is only a small fraction of what the overall blog is like. Does that make sense? I was just thinking that maybe it would be better to have groups that you can sign up for, like for history lovers (yo!), photography, movies, etc., and you visit everyone in your group at least one day or something. It wouldn’t be mandatory, and you can sign up for as many groups as you want.
Anyway. Just my thoughts. Welcome to my blog, new followers and old. I usually have a random topic on Tuesdays, etymology on Thursdays, and a stick figure comic on Saturdays. So yeah. Have fun with that.
I kind of agree, but then my random selection of blogs took me to some interesting places I probably wouldn't have visited otherwise. The B & D ones were particularly…. educational.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteWe've discussed having multiple sign-ups, but it would be too much to monitor and we'd have no way of knowing how many are really participating with people signing up on multiple lists.
It's too many for me.
ReplyDeleteI liked your reflections post and I think that's a great suggestion about the categories. I look forward to continuing to follow along your blog in the days to come :) Eventually I'll be back on my usual blogging schedule of about once a week anything random :)

I know one of the photobloggers I follow did it, going town by town in Britain through the alphabet.
ReplyDeleteYeah, multiple lists would be helpful. Maybe they make one big list that everyone has to sign up on (and that's the one they monitor), and then there could be minor lists of topics or something. That would be cool.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a good time. I've never done AtoZ, but I've often wondered if breaking it up into smaller, special interest groups would help.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on getting through the challenge - again! I think the groups idea is a GREAT one. I agree that the tags aren't super helpful, especially because they're about the blog's general topic, which doesn't necessarily have anything to do with that person's A-Z theme. If we could join groups according to A-Z theme instead, it would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteHaving different groups that you can go to depending on your interests would be nice and make finding blogs and themes you'd be interested in very easy. I like that idea!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm getting back into my blogging schedule too. The labels are something that get tweaked every year it seems so all suggestions are considered.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Enjoyed your posts. I did think the tags were a compromise between a big list and smaller lists. Some like to embrace a variety of topics, but the list is very unwieldy, I agree. I wonder if there could still be the big list with an option to also sign up to sub-lists.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on completing the A to Z Challenge! Looking forward to next year! See you on the Road Trip!
